What makes this a "golf watch"? Answer:, June 4, 2011 By This review is from: Citizen Men's BM7120-01E Titanium Golf Eco Drive Watch (Watch) Disclaimer: I do not own this watch (yet) but I have read a number of posts here and elsewhere pondering "what makes this a golf watch", so I thought I would help shed some light for the folks out there. As I do not own it, I gave it five stars simply in an effort to be fair, though I do own quite a few Citizen watches in this price range, and feel comfortable that the watch will be of very high build quality for this price point.
"What makes this a "golf watch"?"
It is considered a golf watch because the crown is engineered on the opposite side of the case (the left). As most watches are designed for right handed people, and therefore meant to be worn on the left wrist (the "proper" way to wear a watch is always on the opposit of your strong hand, so when drinking coffee, or writing, or whatever else, you can check the time without problems.) To which my replies have varied from `Well duh! It's got golf written on the dial' to `the calendar only goes up to 18'. Seriously, though, it's a valid question and the obvious answer is that just about any watch can be worn on the course although many do not wear a watch at all because it's distracting. The citizen eco drive golf watch has incorporated a few nice features to keep the distractions to a minimum; namely having the crown on the opposite (left) side of the watch, making it out of very light titanium, and the silicon band that keeps it from slipping.
While I've only had one round of golf with this watch, I really like these features and didn't notice the watch at all during my swing. I often play with a watch but not one that's loose or bulky. The design is good and it would work equally well on the course or just as an everyday watch.
